I have a passion for calicos, all cotton fabrics, linen, hemp, flax, bamboo-I love it all and I love mixing it all together. Pretty much always a piece turns out different than I may have imagined it and that is cool. Browsing the fabric stores is thrilling and stressful at the same time. So much promise and so many choices, what if I don’t choose the right combination? I’ll walk back and forth, back and forth, pick up this bolt, put that one down and my sweet Riona, she’ll be into it for a bit, she’ll hold a bolt on her lap and stroke it, ask for another color. Then suddenly she’s done and the bolts get thrown into the cart (at least it’s the cart and not the floor…although now that I think about it she’s done that too). So, I get two yards of this, two yards of that and when I get home and throw it all together on the dining room table, I just hope they will look good together. Patchwork really is an adventure and sometimes you just have to take the plunge and starting cutting that fabric. It can’t sit folded neatly and beautifully forever you know.
